Ruleville Police Officer Arrested for Extortion in Gulfport
A police officer from Ruleville, Antonio Artez Wade, aged 36, was arrested in Gulfport on federal charges of extorting $2,500 from an undocumented immigrant during a traffic stop. The incident occurred on September 17, when Wade allegedly discovered the driver's lack of legal status and offered to assist in exchange for money. Following this interaction, the victim reportedly paid Wade the demanded amount.
U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner emphasized that such misconduct undermines public safety and trust in law enforcement, stating that no traffic stop should devolve into extortion. Wade is currently being held without bond as he awaits a detention hearing. If found guilty of the charges, he could face up to 20 years in prison. The case is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which is committed to addressing abuses of authority. Mississippi officials have also expressed concern over Wade's actions, highlighting the importance of integrity among law enforcement personnel.

Spent a great evening with my favorite skaters
This was great, family-friendly entertainment. The evening was pared down compared to the past, but still fun. I liked the use of modern music, and I liked most of the skaters. I'm a big fan of Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold. I liked the ice dancers, too; besides my longtime favorites, Meryl Davis & Charlie White, I thought Chock & Bates had the best routine of the night with their tango. I was surprised there were no pairs teams. The men's costumes were disappointing-mostly black jeans and hoodies. Also, Jeremy Abbott, whom I normally love, had a weird routine with a mask and goofy music.
